Weekend Activities

“Happiness is when you don’t need to set an alarm for the next day.” Yes, you guess it right, its none other than weekend. I usually enjoy my weekends by performing activities that keep myself away from doldrums. Like others, even I do sleep for a long time, “a long sleep and a good smile keeps us always away from tensions”. I like to keep myself occupied as, “an idle brain is a devil’s workshop.” During this free time, I like to perform activities that keep myself relax. I like to welcome you all to a small but a sweet journey of my weekend.
Even though waking up late is not an offence, it is not usually appreciated by my mother. To please her I help her in the kitchen by chopping vegetables. It might not be a very interesting activity but I love doing it. In fact, chopping vegetables is an art. It is said that, “chopping vegetables in a right manner improvises the taste of the food”. After having my lunch, I move on to two of my favorite and most fascinating activities which makes me as happy as the bird during spring. Those are sketching and handcrafting. This takes me back to the 2020 when lockdown just started. This was when I used to spend most of my free time watching T.V and playing online games. While surfing through the channels I found an interesting art show where the host thought many easy and fun crafts which can be done using the waste items seen in our house. This was when my new hobby came into picture. Initially the results were not as good as I expected them to be. But I had set my motto that, “I can do it”. Don’t mistake it as my ego, “I can do it” is termed as self-confidence which is a key to success whereas, “Only I can do it”, is called ego which one is not encouraged to possess. Slowly I could visualize the improvement in my work. And now it is one of my favorite hobbies that not only provides me a sort of happiness but also fills me with peace. It takes a lot of my time but when I look at the end result it always cheers me up. I always like to end my weekend by reading a novel or a story. This helps me to improve my vocabulary. I like to read a few pages of the book until my tired eyes witness a couple of blurred letters.
Though this pandemic has filled everyone’s heart with fear and anxiety, we must utilize this time properly. We all must have heard the famous proverb, “time and tide wait for none.” If we misuse this precious time we are never going to get it back. We must remember that this hard period shall pass but when we look back at it, we must not regret for wasting it. I would like to conclude by reminding one important thing that is, “Your talent is a God’s gift to you and what you do with it is your gift back to God.”
