The Puberty Life workshop
Teenage has always been a challenging phase for every individual that has crossed it and
reached adulthood. Now more than ever, the current generation called the alpha generation who
are born into the digital life, learn information much earlier to their developmental needs,
‘googling’ everything that happens to themselves, creating a misunderstood concept of self.
Therefore it’s the need of the hour to provide a safe space for children to understand and explore
the changes that happen to them once they step into puberty, creating an environment where
major of their learning comes from a trusted adult.
The current workshop- ‘The puberty life’ was conducted for the 6th graders, taking them through
a fun educational tour across the emotional and physical changes that await them.
Puberty is a transition phase from child to an adult accompanied with physical changes,
reproductive maturity and psychological changes. Children were in detail explained about the
physiological changes caused by hormones that influence their psychological states of being. The
workshop also enlightened upon the healthy unhealthy practices that go hand in hand with their
bodily changes, and ways to deal with the emotional influx. Learning was centric to how these
physical and psychological changes can impact in school, building on team work to help each
other through this phase. Overall, the learning experience was made enjoyable, giving them an
opportunity to learn about numerous aspects of puberty and how to compassionately support
themselves and their peers.
We often expect children to go with the flow and learn about their developments as and how they
grow, which worked well for the previous generations. With the present culture and trends,
educating and preparing them is the only way to progressively guide them to a healthy future.
The current workshop aimed the same and successfully concluded with educating the curious
minds to embrace the challenges of adolescence happily.
